Deletion FAQ

I removed Deal, People, or Company records from the CRMery front-end. How do I permanently delete these unpublished Deal, People, or Company records from my website database without losing my published data that I still need?

Please note that CRMery does not delete removed records (from the CRMery front-end). Instead, it unpublishes them.

In other words, if deal, people, or company data is removed from the CRMery front-end it is NOT deleted from the database. This is a safety precaution until if or when a proper Trash / deletion system could be implemented. In other words, the only way to permanently delete deal, people, and company data is via the database. For example, when a record is removed from the front-end it sets the field titled "published" to a value of -1 within the database . -1 means unpublished whereas a value of 1 tells the database that it is published.

Deals are stored within _crmery_deals

People are stored within _crmery_people

Companies are stored within _crmery_companies

That said, the following guide is how to selectively and permanently deleted unpublished records:

--------------

1. Login to your database via a database management tool similar to phpmyadmin and click on the name of your database.

2. Make a full backup of your database and test the backup as a precaution before proceeding further.

3. Within phpmyadmin, click on the name of the database table (example: _crmery_deals or _crmery_companies or _crmery_people ) you wish to alter.

4. Within phpmyadmin, on the database table you will see "Browse" , "Structure", "SQL" , "Search" , "Insert", "Export" etc. Click on the "SQL" (tab).

5. You will see a white box where you may type a command. Start by deleting any existing select* FROM text within the sql query box.

Note: For the first example below the dotted line, the name of the _crmery_deals database table is gxocf_crmery_deals However, please note that within your own sql command you will need to modify / edit the example sql command such that the prefix (ex: gxocf) matches the prefix that your database uses as it will be unique. For example, if your prefix is abcde then you will change gxocf to abcde example: abcde_crmery_deals

Note: Also, please note that after typing the sql command to execute / save the sql command and make it run and change the data within your database ... within phpmyadmin you would need to click the "Go" button. Please only click "Go" once you are sure that your sql command is correct. Once it is done, all changes are final which is why it's important to have backups.

***DEALS***

The following SELECT command is an example of how to view a list of all the records in the gxocf_crmery_deals database table that are unpublished. Note: This command is optional and only is used if you wish to view a listing of all the rows of data that you will be deleting first. However, please note that depending on how many records you have this could take a while to complete. Note: You will need to modify this command by replacing the prefix gxocf to the one that matches your database.

SELECT * FROM `gxocf_crmery_deals` WHERE published="-1";

That said, if you wish to skip directly to deleting the unpublished deal records you may do so with a modified version of the following command (by replacing the prefix). This command searches your deals database and finds deal records that have a published column value of -1 and deletes them.

DELETE FROM `gxocf_crmery_deals` WHERE published="-1";

--------------

***COMPANIES***

Within phpmyadmin, click on the name of the database table you wish to alter. In this case it will be _crmery_companies Then, within phpmyadmin, on the database table click on the "SQL" (tab).

SELECT * FROM `gxocf_crmery_companies` WHERE published="-1";

to select / view a listing or if you wish to delete, use the delete command instead

DELETE FROM `gxocf_crmery_companies` WHERE published="-1";

Note: Be sure to replace the prefix in the sql command.

--------------

***PEOPLE***

Within phpmyadmin, click on the name of the database table you wish to alter. In this case it will be _crmery_people Then, within phpmyadmin, on the database table click on the "SQL" (tab).

SELECT * FROM `gxocf_crmery_people` WHERE published="-1";

to select / view a listing or if you wish to delete, use the delete command instead

DELETE FROM `gxocf_crmery_people` WHERE published="-1";

Note: Be sure to replace the prefix in the sql command.
